Dear Customer,
within the EU territory according to restriction 74 of the REACH Regulation and the EU Regulation 2020/1149, from 24 August 2023 professional and industrial users of products with diisocyanate concentration above 0.1 % by weight special training courses and specific certificates, for the safe use of the product.
WHAT?
As of 24 August 2023, all commercial and industrial users of mixtures with a total concentration of monomeric diisocyanate > 0.1% will have to undergo training.
Diisocyanate compounds are present in:
-polyurethane foams (in many cases the weight percentage is less than 0.1);
-polyurethane glues, frequently diphenylmethane diisocyanate MDI (again, the weight percentage is often less than 0.1);
-hardeners for many two-component paints, both polyurethane and water-based;
-hardeners for class D4 glues (in most cases these are polyisocyanates, so not necessarily diisocyanates, since the isocyanate polymers are not necessarily dimers).
WHICH PRODUCTS CONTAIN DIISOCYANATES WITH A CONCENTRATION OF 0.1% OR MORE?
Below are the products distributed by Uniform SpA that contain diisocyanates with a concentration of 0.1% or more.
WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD PRODUCT SAFETY DATA SHEETS?
at the following links you can download the safety data sheets of products distributed by Uniform that contain diisocyanates.
-safety data sheet LCTENAX ;
-safety data sheet YC-01 / YC-02 / YC-03;
-safety data sheet LC-PUB600E.
The same sheets can be found in the download area, DOCUMENTS section, of our website uniform.it.
WHY?
The restriction is aimed to ensure that all workers who come into direct contact with substances are informed and trained to assess the risks associated with handling and close contact with substances.
HOW DOES THE TRAINING TAKE PLACE?
In Italy, such training must be provided by an expert in occupational health and safety, with skills acquired through relevant professional training. The extent of training depends on the degree of exposure to diisocyanates and therefore may vary from worker to worker.
An overview of training levels with respective criteria is available HERE.
A training platform is available (available in all EU languages), accessible via www.safeusediisocyanates.eu
The employer or self-employed person must document the successful completion of the training.
The certificate of successfully completed training is valid for 5 years.
